About book A Basket Of Wishes (1995)

If you are looking for a pick-me-up kind of book and don't mind a little silliness this is the one to find! I absolutely loved this story about a whimsical fairy princess who is destined to marry a human in order to save her race from possible extinction.Splendor, the fairy princess of Pillywiggin, is thrilled to learn from her Father that Jourdian, the Duke she has been admiring & watching over since childhood, is the chosen human to sire the first half human/half faery child. All Jourdian ever wanted was a plain, boring wife, one who would bear him children and cause him no trouble. Then Splendor and her magic enters his life and Jourdain's safe orderly world is suddenly turned upside down. The only hitch is that Splendor only has three months to convince Jourdian to marry her and conceive before she must return to Pillywiggin or else she may die . . . unless she convinces Jourdian to fall in love with her. This is a magical story that put a smile on my face and had me laughing out loud. Trust me, I never do that kind of thing. Splendor's innocence and antics are adorable, sometimes silly and always hilarious, I've never read another heroine quite like her. Anyone who loves a pure romantic fantasy, lots of humor and a sensual love story should read this ASAP.

I finally ordered and read this one and Loved it! Splendor's innocence and the way she held it even through everything she experienced was so well written. I felt her pain when she had to leave Jourdian and his when he realized he loved her. Harmony and Emil were so funny to follow and I loved how they both had the emotions of jealousy and love at the same time so like normal humans. I especially loved the Christmas gift scene with the gifts that were given and how perfect they were. I will definitely read more from this author!

synopsis:a long time ago, a man made a deal with the king of fairies, if his wife could just be saved. the time has come to pay the piper. the agreement involved a baby, because the fairies cannot replenish themselves. splendor has known from birth who the donor will be. she watches him grow up. when the day comes that they are to meet, splendor appears naked, and jourdian rescues her. splendor has a helper from her world, who can turn into all different shapes, and startles the staid household often. at first, all splendor wants is the baby, but as she gets to know jourdian, she falls in love. unfortunately, the only way for her to stay in the human world is for jourdian to fall in love with her, and jourdian has had the belief of love bred out of him for generations.what i liked: i liked splendor and her attempts to get a baby. i liked the misunderstandings that arose from her not entirely understanding the human world. jourdian, as someone who doesn't believe in love, but who is interested in the being full of light and humour in spite of himself, is cute in his bewildered interest.what i didn't like: the sister getting her hea before splendor, especially since she was mostly an annoyance.

So if you look at my other books, you'll find that this type of book isn't found very often in my repertoire...however, this book taught me NOT to judge a book by its cover. I received it as an advance copy - and it did not have a cover. I read it and loved it...loaning it to so many friends that eventually, I was left without a copy. When I went to by a new one, I found this - this ROMANCE novel with scantily dressed people...not usually my cup of tea. And yet, this book goes down as one of my favorit books.
