About book A Broken Forever (2014)

4-4.5 stars. Oh wow, my heart hurt for both Greyson and Stefan. They had that once-in-a-lifetime love and were lucky to find each other early in life but tragedy tore them apart, the kind of tragedy that would test even the strongest of couples. Forced to move on without each other, Greyson does exactly that and I can feel her internal fragility as she reconstructs her life and keeps her past a buried secret. Even her family, while they know what happened, they were not in her shoes and felt the depth of her pain. The only other person who actually knows and understands is Stefan. After 6 years of no communication, they cross paths again. There's a lot of questions that Greyson has for Stefan and at first I was kind of concerned that those questions wouldn't have answers, but have patience, because as the story continues, the answers start coming out. I wasn't sure how to feel about Stefan because while I understood his reasons for what he did, he wounded Greyson so deeply, but as Stefan starts to come around more, it becomes apparent that he is even more broken than Greyson and then I just wanted to give him a hug. Although he is extremely successful on the outside, he is so lonely and lost without Greyson and while his heart never strayed from her, he didn't think he could keep her because he didn't deserve her from the guilt and the unbearable loss they suffered. Stefan doesn't even really have the support of close friends and family like Greyson does. Initially, I genuinely liked Richard a lot, but then as the story continued, he seemed so oblivious to me. Granted, he was very respectful of Greyson's space and privacy while being consumed by his work, but he wasn't winning me over as much as in the beginning with his thoughtfulness. Stefan really stole the show by that point with just how considerate he could be and how he used to be. Greyson herself was very relatable, she made some big mistakes but she also stuck to her beliefs and then she would fall somewhere in between because she was human like that and had very real emotions. Her fears weren't unfounded and the secrecy of her past didn't seem outrageous to me, I understood, but I was glad she was finally letting it go in a healing way without actually forgetting the best of the memories despite the outcome. Greyson's brother Jayden was an incredible character as far as brothers go but her mom was just plain annoying even if it came from a loving place. As much as I wanted to see Greyson and Stefan reunite, what I appreciated the most was them working through the pain of something years ago that needed to come out into the open because it's a sensitive issue for them but yet only they could heal each other, no one else and it's not something they will ever feel okay about but they needed that peace of mind again. I'm really looking forward to Stefan's book. Holy torturous heartache Batman. The intensity of this story was off the charts. So much pain, sorrow, grief, longing, love, denial, unhappiness. In truth, Gray and Stefan were a mess. So many unresolved issues and poor Richard was caught in the middle. Honestly I thought he was cheating at one point in the book... his behavior was suspicious to me, but it wasn't to Gray because he'd always been like that. She just really noticed it now that she had Stefan there treating her as a man should treat a lady.I absolutely love this quote...“Of course I did. You weren’t in my life because of whatwas in your bank. You became a part of my heart becauseof what was in yours."Sighs. True love. I was held spellbound from the first page and read this in one sitting. I just couldn't put it down. So many times I wanted to fast forward on my Kindle to see what happened because the buildup was just... fierce. But... I didn't cheat and skip to the end. I read it word for word, page by page until the very end. I was utterly captivated with the love and tenderness between Gray and Stefan. They proved that no matter how many mistakes you make, how badly you screw up, there is no running from your soulmate. Fate steps in and pushes your heart back in the direction it belongs. This was my first Megan Noelle book and I can honestly say I'll be picking up her backlist ASAP.
