About book A Dance Of Blades (2011)

A brilliant second book of the Shadowdance series, the Watcher, Trifect, and the guilds all wage war over the city of Veldaren. Furthering the development which had been left off at the end of A Dance of Cloaks, the story is just as compelling as it was in the first book. An amazing story by an amazing author, Dalglish knows how to take his fans on a descriptive and fascinating adventure filled with blood, love, vengeance, and questions regarding morality, religion, and what a true sacrifice can accomplish. I liked this sequel a lot. It was definitely a bit darker in some places but it had an overall sense of the build up before a storm. In an authors note following the book, Dalglish admitted that he purposely left Thren out of this book for the most part to have him be the ultimate ''evil/villain'' that needed to hover over Haern for the finale. I digged the relationships that the watcher had and how old enemies became temporary allies. It showed depth to the guild ruled world that these people were opportunistic more than loyal and added to the underworld scene. This book was fun and fast paced with lots of well written action. Well done!

Not as great as Dance of Cloaks, but deserves it's four stars. Looking forward to the last book.

It was better than the first. Still, it is kind of Remo for the fantasy genre...
