Ok, just when I think I have this story pegged, the author throws in another wrench.Derek is losing it without his center (Sophia) and he's more dangerous now than he was as a vampire. Sofia is drifting to the dark side and caught up in a power play by the Elders. Two other realms have come into play and neither seem to have the safety of Earth as a priority. Kiev has a hidden agenda. And now there are babies?! It's utter madness!The next book is the last in the series and I'm anxious to see how Derek and Sophia overcome the biggest quagmire they've been in yet! I knew this book was coming, just like a bad cold. Sophia and Derek have united their love, and taken a much deserved break, leaving Sophia's father, and Derek's sister in charge of the Shade. Since Derek is no longer a vampire,he feels all is safe in his world. The world he has always wanted.Derek is not safe though , because he has caused a stir in the vampire, and hunter world. A world with their own agendas. It seems no where is safe for these young lovers, who have devoted their lives to just bring peace. I hated, and loved this book at the same time..The longing, the terror, and the hope that keeps their love alive while they are again separated. I will not spoil the big surprise.....Is all lost? Can there ever be a way to destroy the original vampire, and his followers. Derek can no longer help as a weak mortal. The pages kept me glued....The Shade is under the hunters control more each day..soon nothing will be left to save....except their love..a reason to keep fighting....
