About book A Gift Of Grace (2009)

After reading Book Five of the Kaufmann bakery series, I decided to go back and read all of the books in the series in order. So happy I did.Grace, who left her Amish family, dies in a car accident with her English husband. She leaves Rebecca, her sister in PA, her two daughters Jessica 16 and Lyndsey 14 to finish raising. Rebecca and her husband Daniel Kauffman have been married 15 years and unable to have children of their own. This is a story about the adjustment to change all 4 went through. Its a beautiful story of grace. compassion and faith. I recommend, if possible, to read this story in sequence. It changed my understanding of the continuing story and enriched the reading experience. Two thumbs up..... About this book:“Take a trip to Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, where you'll meet the women of the Kauffman Amish Bakery in Lancaster County. As each woman's story unfolds, you will share in her heartaches, trials, joys, dreams ... and secrets. You'll discover how the simplicity of the Amish lifestyle can clash with the 'English' way of life---and the decisions and consequences that follow. Most importantly, you will be encouraged by the hope and faith of these women, and the importance they place on their families. Rebecca Kauffman's tranquil Old Order Amish life is transformed when she suddenly has custody of her two teenage nieces after her 'English' sister and brother-in-law are killed in an automobile accident. Instant motherhood, after years of unsuccessful attempts to conceive a child of her own, is both a joy and a heartache. Rebecca struggles to give the teenage girls the guidance they need as well as fulfill her duties to Daniel as an Amish wife. Rebellious Jessica is resistant to Amish ways and constantly in trouble with the community. Younger sister Lindsay is caught in the middle, and the strain between Rebecca and Daniel mounts as Jessica's rebellion escalates. Instead of the beautiful family life she dreamed of creating for her nieces, Rebecca feels as if her world is being torn apart by two different cultures, leaving her to question her place in the Amish community, her marriage, and her faith in God." Series: ‘Kauffman Amish Bakery Series’, book 1. Does have to be read in order.Spiritual Content-Verses from Romans, Isaiah, Colossians; Rebecca prays many times; Daniel does a suppertime devotion almost every night.Negative Content-Jessica tries to get Katie (Rebecca’s Amish niece) to listen to music, that is forbidden; Jessica wears a bikini top & shorts while gardening; Jessica’s Boyfriend and Best Friend get caught (By Jessica) in the same house with Morgan wearing just one of Brian’s shirts. Sexual Content-Kisses. P.O.V. of Rebecca, Daniel, Jessica & Lindsay 314 pages~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*High expectations for this book, as Mrs. Clipston is one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed this books. It wasn’t really adult-ish, a good read for teens. And it had recipes in it as well! Yum!*BFCG may (Read the review to see) recommend this book by this author. It does not mean I recommend all the books by this author.
