About book A Love Forbidden, A Novel (2012)

What a beautifully written book. The whole day I was taken back in time to the 1800's along with a woman that ventures out to become a teacher to the Ute children. She has many ups and downs throughout the pages. There is only one man for her named Jesse. He's half white and half Indian. Some of the events that are mentioned in this book really happened and I applaud the author for making it so vivid. It was such a page turner for me. A great Christian romance. I did not like this one as much as I liked the first in the series. However, having said that, I do think the author did a very very good job of portraying the conflict between the government/officials at the Indian Agency and the Indians. No one was made out to be the victim, and no one was made out to be the hero. Each side was portrayed as being hurt and each side make choices that lead to dire consequences. In short, it was a situation that no one could win. I was impressed at how well that was portrayed objectively.
