About book Abaddon's Gate (2013)

I don't know why I like this series so much. It's space opera with lots of military/revolutionary stuff, including tons of blood, death, and dismemberment. This is not something I like reading on such a high percentage of the pages. The characters are sometimes wooden, but the authors somehow make you care about them. Despite the drawbacks, I enjoy reading each book and stay engaged throughout the 500+ pages. This book advances the story through more of a grasp of the purpose of the alien technology and sets the stage for human expansion expansion into the rest of the galaxy. It also maybe sets the stage for more cooperation between Earth, Mars, and the Outer Planets--or not. I am looking forward to reading the next book soon. Probably my least favorite of The Expanse series, but a good book in its own right, Abaddon's Gate is a fun and exciting sci-fi romp that mostly takes place on a giant ship where things have gone awry. With equal parts mutiny and rebellion, the story moves along at a nice pace but the overall meta-plot kind of stalls here. Luckily, the returning characters and handful of new ones kept me hooked, but overall it felt like it was missing something. Still a great book.

Do You like book Abaddon's Gate (2013)?

Much like the first book, the characters aren't super well-written, but it's a lot of fun to read.
