About book Adventure Time Volume 2 (2013)

Straight from Issue 5, Ryan North continues to fail to capture the voice and dialogue of the characters with Jake using "reciprocate" in normal conversation. It's jarringly bad in this volume compared to the previous. Although I haven't checked, I'm sure this is worse than Adventure Time fanfiction because at least they know how the characters sound like in the show.In terms of story, it continues the trend of boring, overlong, unfunny tales of supposed adventure. Issue 5 is markedly bad because it destroys the very canon of the original source material (Adventure Time show). The previous volume did so in certain parts, but not as gravely. Adventure Tim, though interesting, completely ruins the backstory and provides very little fun or mathematical adventures, instead uncreatively presents a premise that has already been tried in Simpsons, Futurama, and a multitude of shows on Cartoon Network. The shorts are better, but they aren't included in the standard volumes. They are, however, going to be included in the next Sugary Shorts Vol. 2 (yet to be released as of this writing 12/26/2013) and are available in the comic issues themselves. They aren't particularly worth the money or time for the shorts alone. I highly recommend Candy Capers as a canonical alternative as the writers for that mini-series actually know what they are writing about. Do You like book Adventure Time Volume 2 (2013)?

Following on from Vol 1, Adventure Time continues with Ryan North's *seriously unfunny* spin-off series, in which some stuff happens that goes on for too long and with too many self-congratulatory jokes, not to mention the distracting and hard-to-read jokes at the bottom of numerous pages. It gets two stars because the art is generally pretty good, and one or two bits of the story were interesting, but on the whole it's a confusing, puffed-up attempt to be funny and capitalise on the (well-deserved) success of the cartoon series.

Time travel stories are tops blooby. These comics have the ability to spend more time on a story than a 15 minute episode would allow, and it makes for great arcs. With this volume we get to see alternate timelines, (something that the show has proven very popular) and more great references to its animated counterpart. It’s light on minor characters but it’s full of great moments with BMO and Princess Bubblegum. Also it has killer robots.
