About book Alien Embrace (2010)

I HATED...- Totalitarian Religious Earth NWO & Military- NWO Big Brother "DO What We Tell You" BS- FORCED Sex Scenes; I don't want to read rape in sick detailFor whatever sick reason I had to finish this book just to see what the end would be like. I skipped over the majority of the rape scenes as well as a lot of the forced seduction, I'm sorry but I have no interest in reading rapeOverall, I will not be reading the rest of this series. "Alien Embrace" was the first of St. John's 'Clans of Kalquor' books, and its prequel is the recently released "Clan, Honor, and Empire" where we first meet the guys in Clan Rajhir. While St. John does a wonderful job of world-building and bringing you into the story, it feels like it's at the expense of Amelia's character, at least initially. We don't really get to know her much before she's having incredibly hot sex with Rajhir and the others....and feeling incredibly guilty about it. Amelia's so ambivalent about the pleasure she receives..she loves how it feels, but she hates that she feels it! There's some dub/non con involved when the Clan kidnaps her to try and persuade her to become their Matara and go to Kalquor. Some of this got very close to my no-go zone, but eventually Amelia gives in. She also reveals a lot of her past, which goes a long way in explaining her feelings about sex...it would have been better perhaps if that had been revealed earlier in the plot -- it would have made her feelings easier to understand, and not made her look so indecisive. There's some nice action and suspense elements to round out the story, and we also meet a couple of characters that appear in later installments in the series...always fun.
