About book Angels (2008)

Just discovered my review for this book. (It seems to me it is more of a letter than a review lol)On Friday, June 01, 2007 I wrote about this book on bookcrossingThis book has not been rated.Karine!!!!!!!!!! OMG. Ask gizzy but this is so wonderful.Vaguely in my mind I thought that someone owed me a Marian Keyes book but checking shauney's site I could not find it. Why was I looking there?Well I loved Rachel's Holiday and a few weeks ago I noticed She had published a new book, also about the Walsh sisters. I immediately added it to my wish list.Lat week I discovered that there were more books written about the Walsh sisters. The first one I discovered was Angels and the next day I also realised Watermelon is also part of the series.Anyways, I was looking on online sites cause I wanted to buy the books. I had just added Anybody out there in my shopping basket and Angels on my wish list :) when the postman rang. he brought me a package. A RABCK from Giz. Inside? Anybody out there. It was so funny. Then I was able on that same day to buy Watermelon secondhand and it arrived the next day.Immediately started to read Watermelon (another great book!) and am watching Angels on Ebay. Guess I can remove that auction now. (It was too expensive anyways) I am on a Marian Keyes reading frenzy so great timing!! Thanks for the little note and Bonjour or Au Revoir (You see I still talk as much :-) ) On Wednesday, March 26, 2008 I wrote.....This book has not been rated.I liked this book but not as much as the other Marian Keyes books.Maybe it was bad timing. (Read this in 2007) I think it was cause I had problems with every book. Could not find the piece of mind to read. I remember that.Update september 27 2015. I left all the typos and errors)

I consider Angels the best book Marian Keyes has ever written (although I havent yet read all her books). Maggie is clearly the most sympathetic of the Walsh-sisters. I also think that Angels deals with wider themes. Maggie's problem isnt really low self-esteem, like Claire's and Rachel's. She’s somehow a deeper character. I also liked the plot. In Angels Marian Keyes is more entertaining than ever. I really laughed, especially when Maggie’s family came to LA to visit her. The Walsh family seems to be an Irish version of Bridget Jones' family. Marian however makes her chanters more realistic and nicer than Helen fielding. Angels was also a real page-turner like no other book I have read for a while has been. I completely loved it. It captured me. Marian Keyes has a great way of relieving the background of events little by little. First it seemed like in the book Maggie's and Garv's marriage broke down because they were simply tired of each other or something as shallow, but during the book it turned out there was a lot more to it. Really great! I really felt like I was Maggie when I was reading the book.

Do You like book Angels (2008)?

It is very slow in the beginning. If you're giving up on it, at least skip to when her family visits her in L.A. There were some pretty funny moments in there.

Brilliant book!!! I'm so pleased that I enjoyed this novel so much because the last Marian Keyes novel I read 'Rachel's Holiday' left me disappointed. Many parts had me laughing out loud. I felt sad to read the final chapter and will definitely be re reading and recommending. The story centres around Maggie Walsh, the second eldest Walsh sister; sensible and a with a self confessed lack of imagination, her sharp tongued youngest sister Helen has labelled her 'plain yoghurt'.Having not featured a
