Never a dull moment for Agatha Raisin. As with all Agatha Raisin stories there is an undercurrent of private life running through, but not to the extent it interferes with the plot. The gruesome crime in this novel didn't give me nightmares because there was so much else going on I wasn't forced to dwell on it at length. Agatha manages, in spite of herself at times, to solve the crimes with honest human endeavors. Another enjoyable page turner. Having listened to a few of M.C. beaton's Hamish MacBeth mysteries, I decided to try one of her agatha Rsisin series. While I did enjoy the decidedly un-cozy personality of Ms. Raisin, who is basically a bitch, I much prefer the MacBeth books. Perhaps it's the Highlands settings of that series.This book will help pass the time but isn't great. The characters are too cliched and the story isn't particularly exciting. It made me want to read some Ngaio Marsh.
This was my least favorite of all Agatha Raisin books.....oh well! Not my cup of tea....
