This heroine is 50% charming and likeable, 20% reckless stupidity, 10% clumsy bad luck, 10% sheer dumb luck, and 10% amazing. These characters are likeable from page one. The story jumps right in and sparks fly immediately. The book has vicious bad guys but not too nasty. There is sex but it isn't too graphic. The heroine is bold and brave but she does occasionally rush into danger alone. Luckily she usually gets right out again. I enjoyed this book. The story is interesting and the characters are engaging. There are two more books in this series so some things are left unresolved deliberately, however it seems other things were just overlooked which seem pertinent only to this book. What the heck was in the mayonaise jar and where did it end up? What happened to Bree's twin and why the big secret? These questions seem to only have significance to this heroine and are unlikely to come up in the next book so I wonder why the author stuck them in at all. Are they just there as red herrings? Aside from these issues I give this book a great recommendation. Four stars is more than most romances get from me. This book is an unusual mix of genres. We have a modern woman, a Highland warrior from 150 years ago and ancient demons. Bree is a historian who loves to hunt for buried treasure. When she returns home after her grandmother´s death ,she discovers that a disc that has always been in the mantle is in fact a key. The key fits the large chest that has been in the old crypt for 150 years. She gets a big shock when instead of treasure she finds a very large Highland warrior jumping out and holding her a knife point.Faelan has a hard job adapting to a modern woman doing all the things he shoud be able to do for himself. They will face lots of danger in their adventure.Obviously the start of an exciting series.
