About book Beni Baştan Çıkarma (2000)

4.5 stars. Heavy on setting. Plot was thinner than it might have been with such a delicious premise. The development of the romance and characters (and their growth) made up for that, as well as it not being as steamy (though still hot) as some Loretta Chase I've read. No part was drawn out too long (and there were places where another author might have done so). Had no problem suspending belief for the heroine's story/retained virginity. Loved the unique concept of an English "harem girl" returned to England. When heroine Zoe returns to England, she's all grown up as is her childhood friend, Lucien (a Duke, no less). She's brazen and forward as can be with severals of harem indoctrination which makes for some interesting dialogue. She turns London on it's ear with some of her antics and originality. If you're looking for a truly different kind of heroine, read this book.

This was my least favorite Loretta Chase book. That said, it was still way better than the last few historical romances I've read (by other authors). My main problem with this book was that the main characters were engaged/married fairly early on in the book. I generally like far more chase and less "oh, will he be able to love me & stay true or will I be miserable and broken-hearted for the rest of our lives?"

Not your average Historical Romance and all for the better of it!
