This story was fabulous, and I loved everything about it. While I usually like Black Butler for its gorgeous art and oddly endearing characters, the Circus arc left me a little shaken by the tone and disappointed with the direction things were headed. This murder-mystery plot has more than made up for it. I don't want to spoil anything, but I love the mangaka for choosing one of my all-time favorite fictional characters as a bit of a model. I love sometimes how real historical figures are portrayed in the Black Butler world, and this was the best one. Every character was interesting, the art only added to the mystery and tension, and the storytelling was fast and never over the top. Midway through the last chapter, I had to stop and re-read the entire volume because I wanted to see everything in a different light. It was fantastic! This will be one of my most re-read manga stories, without a doubt!
