About book Blood Politics (2000)

Mack is finally growing into a reluctant leader and finally hooks up with Corrigan. Yay! But doesn't explore her Draco-wyr form. Boo! We get to meet the Big-Bad-Ugly of the series and in the end Mack has to choose between her budding romance and saving the world. I have to say though, Corrigan is a freaking idiot. He is head of the gall derned shifter world and he doesn't get the tough choice Mack has to make and shuns her at the end? Sigh, all a set up for the final book I know but really, if he is the tough leader he is supposed to be then his actions really don't add up. Yeah he's her soul-mate blah blah blah but I'd still recommend she dump him for being a moron. Actual rating: 1.5 stars1. The story was doing fine (predictable, but fine) until Mack and Corrigan decided it was a good idea to get it on out in the open while they waited for the Big Bad to show up. Really? REALLY?? Author, couldn't you have waited until it was over before writing the sex scene? And Mack's feelings for Corrigan and her nature made her jumping up and down like a lovelorn teenage girl when she found out he liked her seem completely out of place. 2. It's the fourth fucking book! When are you going to stop underestimating your opponents and thinking of yourself as an invincible god, Mack?3. Seriously, now, Mack? You're just giving in to the Summer Queen and the Arch-Mage, who basically bullied you into doing what they want? What happened to the snarky and fiery red-head? And I was expecting you to say something like "Fuck off. If you want me to save the world, then you don't get to boss me around. If you don't like my boyfriend, well, too bad for you. You can always save the world yourselves, assholes."4. Mackenzie, dear, as a fucking heroine, you simply choose to ignore a HELL LOT of stuff that are so blatantly important even to the eyes of a 3-year-old. (Or this is just the fault of the author for putting huge neon signs over stuff she is foreshadowing.)5. The dryads are linked, interconnected to each other, making them sort of one big entity. How hard is it to understand?6. Ughh....why do you have to include the soul mate thing, author?

This is a very entertaining series. Major issues with the editing though, in all four books.
