About book Blue Labyrinth (2014)

It's difficult, and rather taxing, to try and create a review for a novel such as this. For having read the entire breadth of the Pendergast series for the past couple of months or so, I'm finding it hard to believe that I'll be moving on to other tales after this. After being a part of a character's journey from beginning to (current) end, it is rather hard to part from them. Once you're in the world for such a long time, it's almost heartbreaking to move on. The journey of Pendergast thus far is one that will stay with me forever, and Blue Labyrinth was a tantalizing installment to the series. In no way is it Pendergast's last story to tell (I hope), but it feels final in that it will be a long time hence until the next installment is written. Until then, Blue Labyrinth's paralyzing memories will stay with me; all the wounds inflicted and all the emotions spent will be remembered even as I continue on to other stories waiting to be read. I always imagined that I'd seen Pendergast at his worst in previous novels, but never so far as Blue Labyrinth takes us. In agony, I read as Pendergast was dealt the worst of blows, creating a ripple-effect of pain as those around him lay victim to Pendergast's worst adversary since his brother, Diogenes. Words cannot describe the emotional roller coaster ride Blue Labyrinth took me on, but I'm grateful that Preston & Child are still able to render me mute with their stunning craft even after 14 books. I am forever indebted to them for creating these wonderful memories of reading these stories for me, and it is that reason that I recommend these books to anyone interested in the mysterious and the bizarre. Pendergast is, without doubt, my all time favorite fictional character, and I will remain loyal to his creation until his very last words are inked onto paper. It is hard to say goodbye, so I will only say, see you soon... I'm a big fan of the Pendergast Series, and would have been finding it hard to stop reading any of the books in the series. This book kept me turning pages and kept me engaged and curious. It brings back old friends and has them fight a new, seemingly unbeatable enemy who has a grudge against the Pendergast family. With quite a few unexpected twists (at one point I said aloud "I didn't see that coming") this will be a book that fans of the series will thoroughly enjoy. You could also make this your first Pendergast book, with plans to potentially catch up, and it would be a fun read. But you would not enjoy it as fully as those who have the background.
