About book Border Lords, The: A Charlie Hood Novel (2011)
A highlight of the book for me is a mere narrated detail on the "coincidence" of the vampire myth in Europe not long after a vampire bat breakout. When with rabies, humans show multiple symptoms that resemble the classical vampire descriptions and traits. Feral aggression and accompanied strength, extreme sensitivity to light and mirrors and thus more nocturnal, blood filling up along with the saliva, hearing things that aren't real, and I think something like a heightened libido, among others. I guess one could say that says something of the quality of the book.I think it's just me, but it didnt read like a mystery novel until after this point above, which was within 60-70 percent in, just a good ol' action/adventurish. Maybe a lot within the genre do it this way. Supernatural? I'm not into that or fantasy or vampires and the such. And supernatural with a cop thriller? Nope, not interested. GR friend Jim Andersen said he just got tired of Charlie Hood and I think I now understand what he was talking about. I might be there myself. But L. A. Outlaws was such a great book it being the first in the Charlie Hood series.Years ago would not put a book down if my life depended on it. No longer. If I don't like it, pass it on or rather close it up.
