About book: This particular Tijan novel was somewhat less than the others I have read from her. Her story was very compelling and her character development was superb, but it didn't have the same emotional jail cell that she usually puts her readers in. I found this more of a heartwarming story about two kids who were essentially throw-aways, but somehow found each other and made the world their own. Unlike other Tijan books, I found much compassion in this novel from secondary characters. And while it didn't lend to the emotional car-crash of the reader, it did generate a heartwarming compassionate story about finding oneself through another's eyes. Tijan is probably my second favorite author. But this book just seemed from the other books I have read of hers. I normally enjoy her level of angst, mystery, and the general "I have no idea where this is going" plot-but I spent too much of this book being confused to be enamored. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this book. I was just not over the moon over it like I have been with ALL her other books. There were too many things left open at the end. Will there be a second one or are we supposed to just be happy Rayna and Brady are not related and finally together? What about her mom and now dead dad? About Kid? About the backstabbing Clarissa?

Maybe 4.5. Lost me a little toward the end but still loved it.
Super cute read! Many many twists and turns but worth it!
