I like this series, it's a quick read, in this case a bit too quick. Vail has always led his shifter gang to think he was just a love em and leave em kind of guy, but that wasn't quite the case, his family is cursed, so that any mate will die within a year, so he has sworn never to tie himself to someone and condemn them to death.Draven is half vampire and half warlock and all mate for Vail. I was sort of thinking the 'breaking the curse' thing was going to be a bigger part of the story, but it's not, not at all, it's also not clear to me who put the tracking spell on Vail and why, and why did Eliza appear now? How did she know what was going on and how is Ricky connected? Ricky was such an asshat in the last book, he made himself a bit more likeable in this story, so I'm hoping for fully redeemed in the next one, which I think will also feature his brother? It was all just too fast, not the mating part, that I know and expect, the whole story was just sort of over before it really began. Very nice. I liked Draven and Vail wasn’t half bad. Versatility is always a good thing too.Sure, the plot was not terribly deep but that goes for all of these books. Heh. They’re all so short. What’s funny is that this subseries uses a larger font to make up for the 10k fewer words each book has compared to the parent series.I find myself actually looking forward to upcoming volumes.
