There is a lot in this one just as there is a lot to like about it. It is part mythology, part mystery, part adventure, part romance with a splash of action but it is an all round great story.I liked the character of Capri and the alternate route she is established as the heroine of the tale. She does not have the typical persona of the sword wielding hero most tales do; it is a quiet strength that becomes more bold as she comes in to her own within the story. the way I took it was that the author used her as a lynchpin for the whole thing. When you read the book you will see what I mean Capri is a character that is full of grace, just as the language is very graceful and the interior layout of the book is gracefully done. the whole thing blends perfectly well, the character, like the book, like the story.it is more than enough to get me to look forward to the second story in the quartet This book very much surprised me :)This book snuck up on me. I began reading it and remember thinking to myself that I probably wouldn't finish it. I was wrong. The storyline was fresh (to me), as I am all but played out on vampire and werewolf cliches. The heroine began the story as shy and almost timid, but when the occasion arose, showed her backbone. The romance was surprisingly refreshing, and that, other than the history behind the Dryads really drew me in. I liked all of the characters, except the instant hate for the obvious villain. None of them were annoying or unnecessary. This is not a complex book, but I enjoyed how everything unfolded. I have purchased the 2nd book, and have every intention of starting it right after this review, even though its 1am.
