About book Catwoman 01 (2012)

If you're looking for a female-centric story that will reassure your belief that women always need a man to come in and clean up their messes, this is the book for you.I really like the character of Catwoman in her more modern incarnations, and I like 90 percent of this one… but that 10 percent, man, it's brutal. The seeds of a good story and great character development are there, but, at least in this book, she seems capable of only getting herself into trouble, and that's it. Batman will show up to express concern or pull her ass out of the fire, but little else (and I'm just as annoyed with his characterization in the book as I am with hers), and if he's not around, don't worry -- some nice guy cop will decide to help her out. This work just didn't sit right with me, which is a shame because the art throughout is pretty darn gorgeous. I love the style of it, and the expressions of most of the characters as they interact (again, Batman was a letdown in this regard). If you're into the artwork of comics, this is worth looking at. But if you're in it for the stories and characters, I'm not so sure I'd recommend it. Something like 'Hush' might be more up your alley. The art is fantastic but the story is absolutly boring.SPOILERSThe plot: Selina is attacked by a mobster called Bone and in the process they kill her best friend who is also her Fence. Selina is really shaken up & decides to work alone from now on. She also avenges her friend. Post that she robs a bag of dirty money stolen by Gotham cops & gets into a fight with a meta human and is nearly killed. Batman makes an appearance where they make out & later asks her to mend her ways but she refuses. She meets an old friend Gwen who is a fence and teams up with her. Why? So basically her best friend died in vain & we are again where we had began in the story!By this time you dont much care as to what is happening and where is all this going.I think DC comics just decided to give Catwoman a run of her own without thinking much as to its importance. The charachter of cat woman is very interesting and could have been etched out better however the story follows a predictable pattern. The only thing that makes this book worth reading is the gorgeous art. March draws a luscious catwoman & some of the art is just fantastic.

Do You like book Catwoman 01 (2012)?

It was an interesting enough read, but I prefer less exaggerated anatomy in the stories I read.

A lot better than I expected. One of the more adult (violent, sexual) new 52 titles I've read.

I'm glad Judd Winick isn't writing Catwoman any longer.
