Enjoyed this more than I expected, which I don't know why I didn't expect to like it. Penn was great, really loved him. Allie was saved from being obnoxious by her personality. Loved the relationship between them, especially Penn calling her out on her martyrdom and Allie's teasing Penn about being a "nice guy". Townspeople were irksome. I have that problem in almost every book set in a "small town". Great side romance with Clare and Gil, just when I was about to write Clare off there was a nice twist that made me happy. Very interested in Stevie's story, and even Jules' (though I think I already know some of that from guessing). Oddly I liked and didn't like this book all at the same time. It's a cute chic-lit romance where the couples have problems and also find love. I thought the story was a little too... much I guess you can say. Sometimes I found myself thinking "seriously? come on!" And I think that's really what put me off to it. But I do feel like you can truly see the struggles that the main character, Alessandra, goes through. She suffered from losing someone early on and a lot of that still lay on her shoulders. I think the book does a good job of showing just how much pressure she has to always live in the memory of the "what could have been". But in the end, what also bothered me is that it all just happened so fast - neat and tidy, happy ending. I love a book with a happy ending, but maybe just a little more to get to the happy ending? Eh, who am I kidding, still a good book, quick read.
