About book Dark Side Of The Moon (2006)

I was excited this was another Were-Hunter book, but it's also a Dark-Hunter book. Ravyn (I thought that was a chick's name)was born a leopard/cat were & became a DH later, so he's both. Susan is a disgraced reporter who now works for a tabloid. She gets suckered into taking home a cat (which is really Ravyn with a power negating collar on) & she's highly allergic to cats - yeah, hilarity ensues (no, not really). Due to this initial meeting between the two characters, the rest of the book is rife with cat jokes: "I think he has to use the litter box, " "Puss in Boots," etc. When the two mc's meet, Ravyn thinks she's a squire & orders her about like one. Susan thinks all this supernatural stuff is a gag joke on her that her friends are pulling & that Ravyn is a hired model - this means many pages of her boring inner monologue talking about what a hoax it is & how she'll get her friends back. She finally realizes it's not & gets pulled into the DH action & world. The first parts before they enter the Squire/DH world reminded me of Katherine Hepburn & Spencer Tracy in that movie where they're reporters/editors; this is not a compliment as I hate Hepubrn's annoying voice and manly attitude. Now that there's a mystery afoot!, the book reminds me of Nancy Drew. Now I love Nancy Drew, but the books are tediously over-detailed, archaic, and the villain is always blatantly obvious. Same thing here + that "mystery solving" methodology. There's a very juvenile feeling to it, hence the Nancy Drew reference. The rest of the book is more sleuthing, several villains with the evil muahaha-ing & rubbing hands in glee - Dr.Evil style. The whole thing felt put upon & not very creative, too obvious. They really needed Scooby & the Gang on this because they figure out the villains at the last possible second. Also, Susan is TSTL. And I feel nothing for Ravyn. Other characters: Nick - wtf, just wtf. Completely trashed this character, changing him from a fun & loving, responsible 20-something into a whiny, bratty, bitter, vengeful, unhelpful, whiny, irresponsible, uncaring of others child. Stryker: He's growing on me. I can see why he gets a book later on. He's becoming a multi-faceted character vs a silly villain. Satara: Really? Was her presence necessary? It's too obvious, under your nose. Acheron: Well, 1. No Simi appearances, sadly. 2. I am so beyond effing tired of his shite shenanigans with Artemis. He's unbelievably stupid in this book, repeating mistakes he made in Seize the Night. Letting Artemis yank his chain whenever she wants. He may be 11,000 years old, but he has as much common sense as the 21 years of age he looks. That's all I can think of. I'm sure there's lots more that annoyed me & more characters I hated, but this sums it up. I'm proud of myself for omitting the many, many f-words I wanted to use; just thinking them in my head. I wish I'd skipped this book

Do You like book Dark Side Of The Moon (2006)?

“You don’t knock on the devil’s door, unless you want him to answer.” Nicely developed story, many sublines and characters, so much emotion, mystery and fate, love and pain, wrath, woe, guilt, and grief wrapped in one novel. The plot is exciting, great paced, and well-worked-out with almost constant fighting, but it is still followable. The final fight is excellently constructed. I loved both the humor and action in it. Susan She is irritating, bitchy, and nosy. A real smartass with sarcastic humor that is highly appreciated by Ravyn. But she is also brave, and a damn good fighter. He laughed gently at her never-ending humor. Sometimes it was gallows and dark, but it never failed her. She wore it like armor. Ravyn He is a typical Dark-Hunter (or Were-Hunter): dark, tall, lonely, and brooding, larded with a heartbreaking past. He was exceptional. But it made her wonder what he’d be like if he was just an average guy on the street. No, she couldn’t imagine that. He was so much larger than life. A guy like this could never be average. The romanceThe development of the romance seems slow because so many things happen, but actually it takes only a day for them to fall in love with each other. I loved their parallel thoughts: when they first notice the appeal in each other, or when they both think they have no chance with the other… ... she knew a woman like her could never dare to have more than a moment with a guy like him. ... an animal like him could never dare to touch something as precious as she... Secondary CharactersCael and Amaranda: great subline, I’m really curious about them.Squires and Dark-Hunters: excellent overview of how the squires work, and the Dark-Hunters in Seattle.Nick: well, Nick is back just to cause more calamity…Ash: OMG, what a man!Artemis: What a bitch!Stryker: I’m starting to seriously like him.Savitar: hegemonic and surprisingly talkative… “Her kiss was tender and precious, and there in the darkness it chased away the shadows of his past and eased the pain that had lived way too long inside him.” Originally posted on my blog on January 6, 2014. My favorite quotes.

Dark Side of the Moon is the tenth book in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. By now, I've read all but three of the full-length DH books, and there have only been three that I have not particularly cared for. Well, now there's a fourth to be added to that list. While this book had an interesting premis and the story, overall, was pretty good, the heroine was obnoxious and that affected the whole reading experienced for me.The heroine, Susan, was constantly (and I mean constantly) making som

Ok, the ending/epilogue to this book, had me like... The rest of the story just had me. What I mean is, though there were things I had no clue about, events that had already occurred in other books that I have not read, it still did not confuse me to the point where I was just lost & could not enjoy or appreciate this book. This book is part of a huge network of books. All things tie in together in some form or fashion. But with this story, with everything going on with the current plot, new plot developments, subplots & the fleshing out of the main characters; nothing was too much or over the top or took away from Ravyn & Susan's story. These two have crazy white hot chemistry together. The how of them crossing paths, & the why of them becoming attached to one another was not only believable but quite touching at times. And it doesn't hurt matters that Ravyn is fine as hell. This book has non stop action & intrigue. LOL moments, passion, lust, love, mystery & suspense galore. And some heart breaking moments too.I would definitely recommend this read.
