About book Dray (2014)

Dray is book 3 in the Custom Culture series and is Dray and Cassie's story. Cassie and Dray first got together in Freefall and I loved them as a couple but at the end of book 2, Clutch, she left him to go around the world on a photography internship. When this book starts, she's back from the internship but they have not gotten back together. Instead, Cassie has been offered a job in NYC and when she tells Dray about it, he wishes her the best. My main issue with this story is that Cassie and Dray weren't together for most of it. He was stubborn, she was stubborn...as much as they missed each other and wanted to be together, neither one was willing to admit it. As a result, they both remained heartbroken and miserable. Cassie threw herself into her work while Dray couldn't stop getting himself in trouble. There were a few interactions between them and while they still had great chemistry, they also had a huge disconnect in their relationship. The conflict was resolved rather quickly at the end and the book had a HFN ending. Enjoyed catching up with the other couples in the series and looking forward to reading Rett's story! While I loved the cover, this was my least favorite in the series. I thought Dray and Cassie were meant for each other despite wanting to smack Cassie. Yes, I said Cassie. I know most people think it should be Dray but Cassie rubbed me the wrong way. Cassie never saw where Dray was coming from when he originally didn't ask her to stay. All she could see was he didn't love me enough. Dray's heart was right when he didn't stand in her way of her dream job partly because he didn't feel worthy of her love but also because he didn't want her to resent or regret not going. No, Dray's not perfect but is what he is. A tough sexy fighter who has had a lot of knocks in life. Just felt Cassie could have been more understanding. Wanted to love it but for me it was just okay.
