About book Dream Eyes (2013)

I've always really enjoyed Krentz's writing & this was no exception but I did feel it could have been better. It started off great, I didn't want to put it down & then for some reason a little bit past halfway through something changed. I was loving the characters and the whole idea of the story. Judson was really hot & had fantastic chemistry with Gwen. I thought they were leading towards a fun, passionate, amazing relationship & then all of a sudden it was like the author forgot she was writing that part of the story & decided to have the case completely override it, so Judson & Gwen were quietly put on the back burner. Then the last few pages it picks it up again & they are acting like soul mates that fell in love at first site. Plus there was a lot of unnecessary story at the end that was just boring & could have been used in better ways. I mean overall it was a good, interesting, well built story & I'm glad I read it, I was just a little disappointed. I was sad about this book. It drifted off in a direction I just couldnt go... Jayne Ann Krentz is and will alwaysbe one of my fav authors, but occasionally even a favorite authorwrites something just a bit too much of something...In this story, she drifted a bit too much away from the character development between the hero and the heroine, and got fixated a bit on the yukky stuff that was going on inside the heroines head. The heroine in this story "sees ghosts". They appear in mirrors, and shiny objects, etc. They talk to her, but they arnt really ghosts, just a trace of the poor murdered victims energy that is left behind. I wanted less of the ghosts discussion with the heroine, and more of the focus of the story on the hero/heroine solving the crime. This book had multiple murders, with a good potential for mystery. Also, there were short chapters that veered off somewhere else, and I was wondering "why is this here?". I stopped reading, soon after a character was introduced that I knew was the murderer. Then suddenly we were told, the responsible party was a demon. What? Paranormal? Angels and demons arnt my cup of tea. I havent read paranormal --since JR Ward. (That was awhile ago) So to be fair, if you like this type of novel, go for it. I was just a little blind-sided by this drift.
