About book Dungeon Royale (2014)

I don’t know why Lexi Blake continues to surprise me. She is one of those authors that I impatiently wait for her next release and from the moment I read the first words I knew exactly why it tries my patience. She is an awesome storyteller. And with Dungeon Royale the sixth installment to the Masters and Mercenaries series I am reminded yet again why I love her.I am impressed with how complex both her stories and her characters are. I mean there isn’t much that can be said about a romance, it is usually boy meets girl, boy messes up, girl forgives and they live happily ever after. It isn’t as though the formula can change but Ms. Blake has a way of making the details so compelling and believable that I find myself lost in her world. But back to this particular story, I adored Damien. He was almost too perfect. He was cold but appeared to have it all until he was betrayed. Seeing his life flash before his eyes and understanding who was important to him even before his journey began gave us a road map so to speak. And then we meet Penelope, a woman who allows life to pass her by while she remains detached. These two characters wouldn’t appear to make a good fit, but with the skill of a tactician Ms. Blake showed why she really is one of the best at what she does. She gave us layers upon layers in her characters without taking away from the story she wants told. She gave us two characters that were more alike than one would think at first glance but together they became magical. Damien unlocked something in Penelope that allowed the sultry women, hidden by responsibility and fears, to blossom and fight. While Penelope allowed Damien to see that he could offer more than just his body. She showed him while his job was and is important, he could offer and demand more. These lessons were learned all while saving the world as we know it. Gotta love kick-ass characters and Ms. Blake gave us that and more with the latest addition to the Masters and Mercenaries series. Five Shooting Stars Each book in the series just gets better and better. It was nice to see more of Damon. Not just like a distanced relative that visits on holidays. He is a true hero who does not feel like it. I also loved Penny. Watching her get the signals wrong with Damon was funny. But I loved also watching Simon and Jesse go and become part of the team and I am hoping that Jesse gets his own book. And Ian...... What can you say about that growling old bear but I think he had some of the best lines in the book.

Do You like book Dungeon Royale (2014)?

Maybe my expectation was too high, because the previous book was really a good read.
