I realized after I started on it that this is clearly not the first book in the story. I liked a lot of the characters, but thought the boyfriend, Josh, was a complete throwaway. As in, way too much time was devoted to talking about someone so irrelevant. Lots more potential with Barnabas and Paul.As for the story itself, it took a little while to figure out what was going on, but I thought the premise was interesting. There was a bit of fridge logic, though, with the fact that most of the story seemed to have been set in motion by Madison's botched attempt to talk to Ace for the first time. It seemed like the whole plot wouldn't have happened without that major fail. I thought this was going to be addressed, but it never seems to occur to her either that she didn't really handle that exact moment all that well, and in fact, may have even given him an idea that he wouldn't have come up with on his own. Does give the whole fate/choice thing an interesting twist, as if his fate may have hinged on her fate to botch up talking to him.All in all, a fast read, relatively interesting. I enjoyed it. The main character is Madison Avery, who is struggling to continue her teenage life, even though she is technically dead. She had died in the previous book in a car accident, but was transformed into a timekeeper by an angel. The other two major characters in the story are Nakita (the dark angel) and Barnabus (mostly light angel) who are always with Madison. Nakita’s job is to scythe humans who are going to hurt or kill other humans. Madison believes that given a choice, most humans will make the right choice. She has targeted boy who is about to unleash a computer virus at a hospital that will cause a lot of patients to die. Madison wants to prevent this tragedy. There is a group of angels that want to prevent Madison from saving humans. It comes down to the question of fate and choice.[return][return]I didn’t realize until the end of the story that this book was a sequel. It would have helped to know a bit more of the background, but I guess it didn’t really take away from the story. There are a lot of complex “angel” rules going on that some readers might not like. There were some funny parts, some suspenseful parts and I think it was an overall enjoyable book. I think this story fits into the angel trend. I think that Harrison did some research on light and dark angels and then put in a few twists of her own. It’s a good read. Once I got past the first couple of chapters, I didn’t want to put it down. The book makes for a good escape from reality read.[return][return]I think it would be a fine book to add to any school or public library collection. I think it will attract the paranormal readers. I do not see this book being added to the curriculum or using for a book club group. Although, if the interest was there, I would not be opposed to using for a book club. I think posting a book trailer in Moodle and emailing it out to all of the students will hook readers into coming into the library to check it out. Or buy it.
Do You like book Early To Death, Early To Rise (2010)?
The book early to death early to rise by Kim Harrison is a great book. There is action,humor,world building,strong female characters,true friendship,and a bit of realistic romance. So what the book is about this girl named Madison and she is a dark timekeeper and she needs to keep a guy from sending a virus Out and killing everybody in a hospital but she got the wrong person. I picked up this book because it had death in it and it looked interesting .I recommend this book to supernatural action lovers . I have not yet read any thing from the author so this is the first time reading from her. The book didn't turn out the way I thought it would I imagined it being about people in war and some one would stop them and Madison and her friends would stop most of them but no I still liked the book. My favorite character is Madison because she's a strong independent girl. Hope to liked his book

Better than the first, but still not brilliant or anything. I feel like Madison isn't a real teenager (which I guess she isn't, seeing as she's dead and the dark timekeeper, but you know) which bugs me, but I do like that she's not whiny.There is just something about this trilogy that seems "off" to me, and I'm probably not the only one since I got this and the last novel super cheap at the store (that one is a hardcover too). Still some good fun in there, but the pacing is weird, this all happens in a couple of days, which means very little character development/forced development. I understand that this was about Madison's reap prevention/rescue thing, and that it unfolded as a mystery (but instead of "who did it" we're looking for "who is going to do it?"), but in the end it's all a bit "meh"
