This is almost a carbon copy of the first novel in the trilogy with white swapped for black, and even though I only read one book in between the 1st and 2nd books I still enjoyed it. It just rolls really easily along. The characters are simple they are either good or evil, the usual archetypal stuff of fantasy for the YA. It is not overly love oriented so that is a big tick in its favor, again given the genre. One more to go and I'm sure that I'll enjoy it too. Anthea Sharp has a flowing style of writing that leads the reader on. Adorable! Anybody 12 and over can read this no worries. I like the video game tie in to the fairie realm. It is a fun twist. The adults in this remind me of Charlie Brown adults - wah wah wah wah wah wah- they don't really have a place in story except to complicate things for the characters. Great gateway series to start out with fey lore. Not too much, too dark, too far out there. Not as funny as the ruby blue series. but, From here u can graduate to the dark fairie tales series, or otherworlds trilogy, then move on to the heavy hitters- lament, tithe, blood fairie.
