About book Fire Balls (2012)

synopsis:rodney is short, flamboyant, a karate expert and an artist. he paints male nudes. he's also got a crush on hunter, a firefighter. hunter is tall, reads poetry, and trying to be as non-threatening as possible as a gay man. rodney thinks that hunter is straight until one of rodney's models asks hunter out and hunter accepts. rodney then agrees to paint hunter, as long as he doesn't include his face. when their attraction to each other becomes too much to handle, hunter still wants nothing to do with him, because he wants a man who won't remind other people that hunter is gay.what i liked: rodney and hunter. they were so good together and good for each other. i liked that rodney was into karate and ran his own business. i liked that hunter had a soft side. i also liked that the stereotypes were reversed, and that rodney was actually the dominant one in the relationship.what i didn't like: that hunter kept sleeping with jerry even after he had sex with rodney. Rodney would be such a lovely person to meet. While meeting all the typical stereotypes that so many people find repulsive in the LGBTQ community, he also has his own unique quirks and mannerisms. He's got a good head on his shoulders (in my opinion), and he knows what he wants in life. He's completely respectable character. Then there's Hunter, the hot hunky guy. He has issues...enough said. Having lived a life to please his father, he suppresses his desires and natural sexual preference just to seem the Alph-male he feels is expected of him. When he meets Rodney, he is given a chance to be happy and embrace his true nature.I loved this story, it was so wonderful to read and I loved the character dynamics. I just wish that friends like Jerry existed...sigh.
