Back in the Depression, Cleveland was the scene of the a serial killer called the Torso killer. The author excellently wove a crime mystery, weaving this part of Cleveland history with a current series of murders, investigated by a Forensics investigator and her police detective cousin. I really enjoyed how she combined Cleveland landmarks and history with an engrossing crime drama. I definitely will look for more books by Lisa Black. I definitely recommend this book. I struggled through this book. It was a good story but rather confusing! At first, I thought the back & forth between time periods was interesting but then it got to be a little much because of all the same names. I didn't guess who the killer was beforehand but with her stories, it's never really a huge surprise at who it turns out to be. It was just an ok book... it didn't blow me away and I was looking forward to just being done.
Best book I've read in a good while. Kept my interest with the real serial killer plot.
