About book Georgiana Darcy's Diary: Jane Austen's Pride And Prejudice Continued (2011)

This was a truly delightful read! My favorite aspect of it was by far the role that Anne de Bourgh played in the diary. Georgiana and Anne's growing friendship was such a surprise to me, and I love that the book didn't focus solely on Georgiana's suitors (for that storyline was a tad more predictable). This book was sweet, fun, easy, and quick. Don't take it too seriously—rather read it as an Austen fan wanting to explore the world of P&P further and in a slightly different, more playful way. I also really recommend Georgiana's Diary for younger readers, as it touches on social concerns such as gender and class, but in a very simple and explicit way that is perfect for readers not quite ready for Austen. Light, but thoughtful. Will likely pick up the sequel next time my brain needs to take a break from school! I do not hide my review as a spoiler because the author gives them herself in the very beginning of the book. Which is not a way to entice a reader, in my opinion.---------So... I don't even know how to rate this book...First, I love Pride and Prejudice. I've read it (plus many, many fanfiction stories), watched mini series, movies, every adaptation done about it. I loved the youtube version, and I was looking forward to this spin.Unfortunately, while I loved reading it, in the end, it fell flat to me.Characters changed so drastically, it felt unreal.Plus the whole time I was reading the book, I almost prayed that the author wouldn't do what she promised could happen in her note at the beginning of the book.I mean I know that in those times marriages between cousins were allowed, but to me... it's just disgusting. Not to mention the fact that the author made the other candidate to Georgiana's hand gay. And very conveniently so.I was so disappointed.I was rooting for him.Suffice it to say, this was not what I expected.
