About book Güzel Şeytan (2012)

It took me nearly three weeks to read 287 pages. I think that speaks for itself. Maybe I just wasn't in a reading mood, it happens. I doubt it. There was so much about the main character that I realized I really couldn't stand. I think it's because I've just come off reading really very good books and delved back into this. It's not an awful book, it's slightly below my standards. The plot is promising, still, though and I appreciated the way it picked up at the very end. The fact that the main character whined for most of it and went through every motion recklessly, without real thought or plan, and everything they seemed to do was hopeless and stupid... Well, they're kids so I guess I can't blame them. But I wanted it to be more, somehow. I say all this to say, it was okay. Keaton pulled it off well enough, at the end, that I still intend to read the last book. Just not today. A great second novel in a series. This book leaves off where the last one ended. Ari is going to Presby. She's finding out that the school is like any other private school with privileged kids; full of SNOBS! Luckily Ari has Sebastian to help her make her way through it and if that's not enough, she now has unfettered access to the Novems library. At the end of the day Ari's goal is still the same. Save her father & Violet and rid the world of Athena. Piece of cake. ;)The relationship building in this book was magnificent. You see the interaction between Ari and her friends. The relationship that is being built between Sebastian and his father, Michael. Plus the relationship between Sebastian and Ari grows. If that's not enough, each individual comes into their own personal growth. To me, this is what makes this book spectacular. The non-stop action just makes it all the more sweet. There of course is angst which leads to hard decisions. 4 solid stars. Keep it up Ms. Keaton!
