The Hate List was a pretty decent book. Besides its story line there is nothing so wonderful about this book. The only reason I like is because it deals with the problem of school shootings. In America I think that is becoming a larger issue, so I like how this book dealt with that. This book also had a cool way of writing, which was a little bit confusing as well. It was interesting because it blended what happened with what is happening. Though I have reasons to like this book, I don’t. There are many reasons for that as well. First of all it was super long, when it didn’t have to be. The author mostly droned on and on about the same thing, when she could have used a lot less words. So basically it took a long time to read. Her characters seem a little too realistic. She wanted to make them so relatable that they became unrelatable. Also too many things were happening at once so not only was it confusing, but also you couldn’t relate to the book. In the end the author writes that Valerie was such a great person and so on, when in the book to me she seemed so bratty and annoying. That means the author didn’t do a good job conveying what they imagined their character to be onto paper. Although it may seem as if I am saying this is a terrible book, I am not. The message is important and it was written in a very unique structure. Although it wasn’t my favorite book it is still readable. This book might also be like by many of other people but not me. Everyone always says that some books explain the life of a teenager and their struggles, but this book goes into too many issues and in not enough depth. Which is why I dislike it.
