About book Hers (2000)

I'm still very torn on this book so that's why I gave it a 3.When the story starts out, I love Seven already. Tatted up, dominate, and takes no shit from anyone...I love it! Her relationship with Star was also awesome. Then shit starts speeding up and getting weird and I'm left with my jaw on the ground wondering what the hell did I just read?!!?First, the intro of Levi was great. I loved how it transitioned so we could see how he was going to be different then her other conquests. He was awesome even with his fetish. All of a sudden they're falling madly in love....sorry but I'm not feeling it.Star, her BFF/fuck buddy, is quirky but likeable. I loved the flashback scene to the first time Seven and Star were intimate. It was well written and let me see into a different perspective. Blue happens and I'm all confused about that. There's barely any back story to him and I still don't get why Star invited him to the penthouse. The ending made me want to punch someone. You seriously cannot have two people feel so strongly one way, then something happens to take that away and they're fine with it? Really? I'm going to read His just for the simple fact that I want to see how this turns out and according to the synopsis, shit goes down. This is an okay read but I won't be recommending it to anyone. This book is just filthy! :) So I figured the story would be lame but hey, at least I get some raunchy "love" scenes, but I was surprisingly wrong. I really enjoyed the story about Seven, a woman who is rich & successful after being scorned by an ex, swearing she'll take over his company as revenge. She also has childhood issues with her hippie, free-love parents as well as her older cruel brother. At first I was irritated by Seven's dominant aggressive behavior in the boardroom & in sexual situations. But this is the brave face she puts on to be respected. Everything changes when Seven meets Levi one night in a kink club. I knew right then that the plot would have a unique twist since Seven is obviously dominant & Levi is submissive - he'll do absolutely anything Seven wants but what he really craves is to get to know her better, to get closer to her which Seven won't allow. But God bless Levi because he continues to just be there & that is exactly what Seven needs. Once she falls apart & drops her walls it is Levi who helps her pick up the pieces. Seven was constantly told that no one will ever want her but Levi does, and he proves it, even when her long-time friend Star lets her down. Speaking of Star, there is one fantastic sex scenario after another but I really liked the one including Star since Seven finally realizes that the kinky passion she has with Levi is something deeper & more serious & she can't share that with anyone anymore. Levi is so cool, sweet, friendly & Seven tries so hard to push him away but it doesn't work. I loved that in the end when Levi & Seven decide to settle down it doesn't necessarily mean that they'll change their kinky ways. These two are fantastic together & it is wonderful to read about a girl who is covering up her broken heart only to find someone who lets her expose her dark side & comfort her - Levi gives her everything she needs, his body, heart & soul!
