About book How To Lose A Bride In One Night (2013)

Loved the author and the story. Annalise marries a Duke and on her wedding night he tries to kill her (which he thought he did) and throws her over board into the river. Owen not long back from war, finds her. With the help of gypsies brings her back to health. So much happens btwn the two including her wanting to protect him against her murdering husband!!! You have mystery, intrigue, and live!!! 3.1 Stars. From the beginning it was obvious that this would just be a three star book. It was a good book but the story and writing kept it solidly in the three star range. The world, characters, and backstory aren't really explored just mentioned and the end wrapped up a bit too quickly after the climax for my satisfaction. The story isn't that different from others in this genre... bastard girl saved from life of poverty by father. He pushes her off on a prestigious but money hungry man who then attempts to murder her on their wedding night. Left for dead in the river our H saves her. The H and h spend time together as she heals. Feelings develop but as we know it must trouble from the husband develops. The H and h do stupid things in an effort to protect each other. There is a confrontation and something bad happens. The conflict/climax is followed by the resolution and the end. I believe this is the last book in this series and I have not read any of the other books. Maybe my involvement in the world and side characters would've been more if I had. As it stands this book can be read solo.I normally have zero tolerance for adultery. This book seems to be the exception to the rule. I still didn't like it but it wasn't the major turn off it normally is. I think it's due to the circumstances of her marriage. But if that's a sucking point for you I'd skip this one.
