About book I Hate Your Guts (2008)

Being a long-time adamant fan of Jim Norton's unique style of offensive, repulsive comedy, I was very excited about reading his sophomore effort published only a year after his bestselling debut book. In the simplest of terms, it is more of the same ol' same ol', but focusing on different subject matter. While the original, 'Happy Endings: Tales of a Meaty Breasted Zilch', focuses more inward for Norton, the sequel is more of a collection of essays about people, and entities, Jim just can't stand. All of the belligerents, for one reason or another, piss him off to no end. And while Jim still takes a good amount of pleasure tooling on himself for long periods of time, it is little in comparison to how much he can enjoy giving a good thrashing to some public figures that some of us bite our tongues at as well. No 'douche' is spared in Jim's tell-all of actors, politicians, radio personalities, activists, security guards, iPhones, and other figures he despises. Worth your time if you're a fan of no-holds-barred, edgy comedy like myself. Disclaimer: this book is not for everyone. If you are offended by profane language, dark humor, or easily grossed out this one not might suit your liking. But if you love to laugh and can handle some adult/tasteless banter give this one a couple of days read. A warning. Not for everyone. Probably offensive for most. But you have to get past the junior high school* level humor. It's almost become cliche, but many comedians seem to be in a great deal of pain underneath the outrageous behavior. This is clearly the case here. But I also get the idea that Jim would punch me in the nose (or lower) if I suggested this theory to him. Enough here for a team of 24 hour therapists. I'm also omitting the most important part. A great deal of the book is howlingly funny. Gasping for air, doubled over, mucus spraying funny. He eviscerates all the pompous, full of themselves phonies that seem to dominate the media today..... The most recent Mrs. Paul McCartney. Need I say more. Touching and funny, with a couple of flat spots. Well worth it. Just remember, you've been warned. ...(*They tell me today it's called "middle school", probably the efforts of someone selling new signage).
