About book I Know I Am, But What Are You? (2010)

I listened to this book in my car, and laughed out loud. I will add that the first chapter or so of this book did not lead me to believe I would be laughing anytime soon. I was wrong. It was funny, and I suspect Samantha Bee's narration probably made it even funnier than it would have been in print. One day when I've sort of forgotten about it, I'll buy it on Audible instead of getting from the library. That is saying something. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good laugh. I would also recommend this to someone who doesn't like to laugh, maybe it'll help them enjoy the funny things in life just a little bit more. This is honestly one of the funniest things I have ever read - more than once I was laughing so hard that I was crying and couldn't breathe. For some reason, this also became the book I read on trains/subways/in waiting rooms - I think because it is something that you can be distracted from without compromising the integrity of the essays; however, this led to me constantly looking like a crazy person to those around me who were not trying desperately to hold in their laughter. On the other hand, I also got to recommend this book to any one brave enough to ask the crazy girl what she was laughing at... so there's that. These essays by Samantha Bee really have something for every one. Even though I haven't lived her life or been in any of these exact situations that she presents here, her reactions to the events really spoke to me. Samantha Bee managed to voice my would-be reactions to a T, and yet managed to remain completely witty and, dare I say it, (uniquely) classy throughout. Basically, upon finishing this book, I want to be her best friend and I cannot wait to get my hands on her future work.

Do You like book I Know I Am, But What Are You? (2010)?

"Sweet, adorable, and vicious" about covers it. Amusing, with a bit tmi for me.

Pretty great, but I wish she hadn't ended on such a sad (humiliating?) note.
—Grace
