About book I Like It Like That (2004)

Hey all you wonderful Gossip Girl fans, it's Alfreda again, and I am just here to give you the scoop on the latest Gossip Girl book that I have read. Ok well the last book was amazing as many of you know, it had lots of drama and more drama, and did I mention drama? Anyway this book is even more intense then other one I told you about. In this book they had drama with more couples of course, they had drama with themselves too. So if you enjoyed the first essay, I just know that you'll love this one right here. So let me just start off with a little saying "whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." Well we all know that that's not true, especially when you're a celebrity, and let's face it, the people in the Gossip Girl book are total celebrities in their own little communities. I mean they have a blog dedicated to them, in case you're lost Gossip Girl is this little website that gives you all of the latest scoops on the most popular Upper East Siders that live in New York City. Anyway in this book they all went on vaca for the spring, and let me tell you, it was some drama with a capitol RAMA. People were getting naked and hooking up from the get go. In this book the main characters went to Sun Valley for their vacations, where they partied like rockstars, got drunk, naked, arrested and more. I know you're probably wondering how can people so young be so stupid, or maybe you're not. The point is they got wild and crazy and in the end had to pay for their behavior, well at least some of them did. Shall we start off with Serena van der Woodsen, I think we shall. Well in this book Serena is like the goddess of all goddesses, everyone falls in love with her wherever she goes. Now she went up to Sun Valley with her bff Blair who was going through her little problems yet again, but we’ll get to that a little later. Anyway Serena, went up to Sun Valley to spend sometime with her big brother Erik for their spring break. What she got was something she definitely was not expecting, her bff Blair started hooking up with her big brother Erik, I mean she didn’t want to say anything about but she definitely was not happy about it. Then this Olympic skier tried to hit on her and was not even into him, and to top it all off she got stuck in a ditch on a sleigh butt naked! I know crazy, and if you want to find out how that happened well then you have to read the book, but enough about Serena let’s move on to the next one. Well if you’re a Gossip Girl lover like I am, then the next name is definitely one of the first names that pops in you’re head when you think of sexy, It’s none other than Nathaniel “Nate” Archibald. Well he has a little drama of his own, his girlfriend is a drug addict, she gets naked in front of anyone, she’s obnoxious and so much more. His ex-girlfriend is hooking up with someone else right in front of his very eyes, and to top it all off, he has homosexuals hitting on him, that’s how hot he is. Everyone around him including his worse enemy Chuck Bass, they used to be friends as most of us all know but then they stopped. Anyway, everyone around him has seen more of his naked girlfriends body except him, even the police among other random strangers, and just wait until you find out who that hot peace of a mess is. Here’s a hint: it’s the person that you least expect, and if you want to find out you’re going to just have to read the book. I mean there’s just so much drama going in this book, it’s hard to keep up with it. Blair wants Nate and he wants her, but he has a new girlfriend and her pride is in the way. Serena wanted to spend time with her big bro and her best friend, but she didn’t want them to spend time together the way that they were. Chuck was experimenting and being his oh so charming self. I’m totally being sarcastic. Anyway there’s just so much drama and so little time to cover it, but I think I covered a lot, enough to make you want to read it, right? Anyway I am on the next book “You Know You Love Me” and let me tell you, it is awesome. So until the next time, I’m Alfreda and well you know you love me.

In the book, “I like it like that a Gossip girl novel”, what kept me reading was the interesting, catty, back stapping, teenage stories. I picked this book because I started watching the series on TV. And it got me interested and I wanted to see the differences. The portion of the book that was my favorite was the part where Jordy and Vanessa were on a date. The book interested me with the sneaky, evil planning, and back stapping things girls do behind even their own friend’s backs. This book made me feel angry, happy, shocked, amused, and disgusted. I believe the author wrote this book to show just how gossip can be. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes high school type drama! This book is already a television series and all the characters portray it well! I love each character I couldn’t really see it portrayed differently. My favorite character is Chuck Bass because he’s just always trying to come off as the boss and can be really mean but he also has a good side. My least favorite character is Blaire because she’s manipulative, rude, arrogant, and self conceded! No I was not able to predict the ending exactly bit I knew I would be left wanting to know more. My favorite line from the book is, “stir it up, little darling, stir it up.”

Do You like book I Like It Like That (2004)?

Von Ziegesar's series about overprivileged Mahattanites moves location, all the way to the ski slopes. And Georgina Sparks is coming along for the ride, as well as the rest of the GG girl crew: Blair, Serena, Nate, Chuck Bass, etc.Georgina does not need to be in the books. She first appeared in Because I'm Worth It, since Nate's whole weed smoking incident. He met her at the clinic and she pulled him into her world of self-destruction. Blair grimly calls her the "Miu Miu shorts slut" prior to this book and now, although Georgie has always seemed a bit slutty, she's gone wild, disrobing whenever and flaunting every private part of her body more times than a typical Girls Gone Wild babe. She also unabashedly informs Nate that she lost her virginity to Chuck Bass when she was in the sixth grade. Funny, Nate is the only one she won't sleep with. It is obvious her relationship with Nate won't last long - not because she won't have sex with him but because she's just too wild for his liking.Jenny has a new beau. They are suited for each other, as he is not Nate and does not lack the common sense of Nate and is sweet, kind, considerate, and romantic. The story focuses on a short period of time and I prefer the books that focus on longer stretches. The next book is called, You're The One That I Want. You know what that means (and no, you do not find out who Gossip Girl is)! Nate and Blair are so rekindling their lost love/lust. Hopefully, it'll have the spark found in most GG books - this one didn't totally have it but still beats the copycats. And when GG is good, it's the ideal teenage fluff, a light read that will either keep you guessing or be extremely predictable.
—Alannah Clarke

The first four in the series were total fluffy throwaway, mostly only interesting if you are a fan of the TV series and are curious to see how the show diverges from the books (spoiler - Chuck is recreationally gay!) But this book is just out-and-out boring. Blair likes Serena's brother - fizzles into nothing when she realizes she still loves Nate. Jenny has a mysterious boyfriend - turns out that the only thing interesting about him is that he is not rich.I had a hard time getting through this
—Jennifer

How I Came To Own This Book: I generally read all the GG books as they came out...at first. The Plot: Everyone's favourite private school princesses & prepsters are back and ready for Spring Break! Blair & Serena seem to be on the ins and ready to head out on a fabulous ski trip to Idaho - where they'll tangle with ex-boytoy Nate and his new wacky girlfriend Georgie. Meanwhile back in NYC, Dan is working at a literary journal, Jenny is spending time with her new squeeze, and Vanessa might just have a newbie boy of her own - sporting the gear of your typical Upper East Sider (gasp!)The Good & The Bad: I think it was around this book that the series started to nosedive a bit - pretty early on all things considered. Von Zeigesar screwed herself over by letting the first few books take up several months of the precious senior year the story is set in, and thus the latter books in the series fall to the A-List syndrome and span only a few days at a time. The entire book is about 10 days long, not nearly enough to encompass all the stupid shit that happens. Still, at least Von Zeigesar was still writing the books at this point - I think the ghostwriting is still a couple of books away. The Bottom Line: A too short but always fun GG book.50-Book Challenge?: No.
