This is so sweet that you may want to get some preventative dental work before reading and then brush your teeth after reading. A little girl wants a kitty more than anything and sees kitties everywhere. Yasmine Surovec's artwork is adorable and about as subtle as a sledgehammer made out of glittery rainbows and kitten fluff. This is the kind of book that will make a crabby crazy cat lady remember why she took in those two naughty little funny-faces in the first place. Adorable! There's just something about cats that appeals to Chloe. She adores those felines and everything about them. So obsessed is she with the kitty she sees in a pet store that she sees cats in the clouds, in the grass, even in her bubble bath. Eventually, her dreams come true, and she finally has a kitty of her very own. Young readers will relate to Chloe's longing for an animal companion shown through the simple text and illustrations throughout the book. The smile of pleasure on her face after she has a kitty of her own warms the heart. This picture book reminds readers of the strong bond between humans and their animal companions.
This one would fit well with the library's parternership with the Humane Society in October.
