About book I Surrender (2000)

6 incredible stars! There truly are no words to describe just how amazing this story was! Nothing I could say could truly do this book justice. Monica James is such an incredible writer, and I must applaud her on her ability to pull you into the story and make you feel… deep raw emotions. I didn't simply feel like I was reading a story about Jasper and Ava, I felt like I was living their lives. Every bit of happiness, and every ounce of heartbreak, I was riding the emotions right along with these two characters. And what a ride it was! It was such a roller coaster of up and downs I feared I would be getting whiplash. By the time I reached "the end", I was such an emotional wreck that it felt like forever before I was able to begin picking up the pieces of my heart and mending hem back together. The way this story made me feel deep inside is completely and utterly indescribable. I am in total awe.Jasper is by far one of the sexiest book boyfriends I have encountered, both inside and out. He is not the typical sex god who chews up women and spits them out. Sure, he has had his fair share of sexual encounters, but he is not the heartless player you would expect from a man with those looks. Add in the fact that he is a musician, and loves animals and you have one fine piece of man candy here ladies! But hands off because I will fight tooth and nail to have claim over Mr. Jasper White. I cannot even begin to tell you how sweet and kind hearted this man is. I dare you to read this book and not want to surrender your heart to Jasper White!"I love you so much. I surrender everything I am to you, Ava Thompson. All the good, all the bad, I give to you. I surrender myself to you. Do what you wish with me. I submit to you, I am yours. Whatever choice you make, I accept it. I support you, and I will love you forever and a day."Ava has just moved home again after her split from her a-hole of a boyfriend Harper. She is devastated, heartbroken, and a shell of her former self. A year after giving up her dreams and her life to follow Harper to Singapore, he just up and left her… in the middle of a damn karaoke bar nonetheless. I mean, seriously, who does that?!?! Living with her best friend V, Ava meets V's boyfriend who is in the band Passengers of Ego. Enter Jasper White… singer of the band. Despite Ava's deepest heartbreak which she has just endured, the electric sparks that ignite in the room between Jasper and Ava are undeniable. The connection is immediate, although they agree to be friends and get to know each other. Ava is not looking to get romantically involved, and as the time passes, and the feelings obviously begin to grow between the two of them, she is too scared of letting go and opening her heart. Oh yea, and there is this one irritating as hell nuisance names Indie… Jaspers on again- off again sort of girlfriend. What a mega bitch this chick is! Anyhoo, the more Ava fights her feelings, the worse things become between her and Jasper. Her insecurities which stem from her previous relationship with Harper (her first love) begin to get in the way, and every time she seems to be heading towards a happy future, Harper's ghost is there to nip any and all happiness she has found right in the ass. Although she has come to terms with the breakup, and her heart has mended, the emotional scars remain too deep to ever fully heal. And then finally… FINALLY… when Ava allows herself to admit her feelings you get…… ONE HELL OF A CLIFFHANGER! Oh. My. God. No joke, I was left with the absolute worst book hangover I have ever had. But my god it was so worth it. I need to get more Jasper White in my hands… NOW! My anxiety is at such a all time high and 24 hours later I am still hyperventilating. Well played Monica, well played! I surrender has officially tied for my number 1 MUST READ book of 2014. It was meh... nothing exciting actually happens and these are two of the most dysfunctional people ever. They break up and get back together 3 times and it's not that long of a book for that to happen. It's kinda sad actually. It doesn't have a 'wow' factor at all. It feels like a plain romance book that you probably read six times over. Both Jasper and Ava are insecure and it makes the book seem a bit lame. They both reallllllly suck at communicating and it's that typical 'OMG there is an electrical current that flows between the two of us, we must be destined for one another' kind of book.
