About book Im Freien Fall Oder Wie Ich Mich In Eine Pappfigur Verliebte (2014)

Oh no, those aren't tears falling. I just have something stuck in my eyes. This book was beyond what I was expecting. I'm not even sure what I was expecting when I got this book, but it wasn't what I got. I'm honestly speechless as to what else to say besides that you should pick up this book and start reading right away (maybe I should change career paths and become a book reviewer?) Now, i'm off to get the second book in he series and probably cry again I had mixed feelings about this one. Julie is a freshman in college. I thought that was too young to be a protagonist in a love story, but maybe I missed something and this book is supposed to be teen/YA. I thought it was for adults when I started it, so her age was jarring to me. There were also two scenes from the book that made me dislike Julie. They could have easily been removed from the book and not changed the story one little bit. (SPOILER: the scene where she first goes to pick up Celeste from school and threatens a middle school boy, and the scene when she is home for Thanksgiving and so stereotypically has the freshman-in-college attitude toward her family: mocking her mom's food and decorations, and getting in a fight with her uncle, where of course she is the enlightened educated one and he is a boor.)The Facebook status updates were smug and irritating. However, I enjoyed the complex relationships between the characters, and in the end found the whole story touching.
