About book Immortal Hearts (2012)

I first began reading the series when I was in high school going in my kindergoth phase, so hearing about a gothic female protagonist that gets a happy ending obviously caught my attention. Despite a lot of cheesy, lovesick situations, it was an interesting read with all the different colorful characters. ( and seeing it also has a separate manga series I kept picturing the entire book series in a manga form in my head.) but when I finally got to this last book I felt very disappointed with how it all ended. All the characters got built up and developed making me crave for more and I felt it ended too soon with too many questions and no answers. I feel the very last chapter could have easily been drawn out for a final book so we could tie loose ends. I could be a little biased because the series got me through a lot of hardships in my teen hood, but it was painful seeing Raven get such a rush ending. This one was…a disappointment, to put it at the best I can. The ending was so rushed and sudden. She becomes a vampire, doesn’t even say goodbye to her parents, and just says, “They won’t mind”? WHAT??? They don’t even know vampires EXIST!!! I know this wasn’t exactly meant to be a super intelligent series from the beginning, but good grief, I thought it would’ve had a better ending than THIS. It just comes out of nowhere, right out of the clear blue sky, and it abruptly ends. It’s like she had no idea what else to write about afterwards. Like she ran out of ideas, but I still think there could’ve been a much better way to wrap it up. Oh, and her brother was a real brat in this too. He was so selfish, wanting to expose Alexander and his sister, not having any regard to their feelings whatsoever. The only redeeming part of the story was Stormy. But otherwise it was just a massive disappointment. At least it’s finally over. It’s still one of my favorite series, but if it weren’t for the earlier books, this most definitely would’ve gotten a one-star.
