Eindelijk nog eens een thriller van formaat! Ben absoluut fan van Linwood Barclay en al vond ik zijn tweede boek iets minder dan het fantastische 'Zonder een woord', met dit boek ben ik weer volledig verkocht. Het verhaal wordt langzaam opgebouwd waardoor je constant, beetje bij beetje meer informatie krijgt en het bijna lijkt of je het zelf allemaal meemaakt. Je wordt volledig meegezogen in het verhaal en alhoewel je niet kan wachten om te weten hoe de vork in de steel zit, heb je toch een dubbel gevoel wanneer het boek uit is want je zou eindeloos kunnen doorlezen. Wachten op zijn vierde boek dan maar ... The key characters in Barclay's novels are ordinary people, one of the main reasons I enjoy his writing. In this case, Tim Blake is a lowly car salesman rather than the owner of a sales lot which was his dream, a dream where he failed. He is divorced but seeing a rather flaky woman. His daughter commutes between his place and his former wife's who is now living with a successful car dealer. His daughter Sydney has vanished and Tim becomes more and more desperate to find her. In the process he turns up a darker and darker side of life in their town. The story is full of twists and turns and much pathos.
