About book Inescapable (2012)

This book was very well written and kept my attention throughout. The author dealt with the issues of the extremely conservative values of the Mennonite community with sensitivity and grace. As a Christian book, however, I was disappointed that she didn't make the way of salvation a little more clear. I was also disappointed in the last chapter. It seemed like the problems were resolved in the second-to-last chapter and she had to tack on the last chapter just to explain everything. Other than that, however, I felt the book was well-written and the situation was really interesting. I recommend it. Inescapable, by Nancy Mehl, is an intriguing novel. With the main character, Lizzie, having lived in a big city and a small Mennonite village, the reader can sense there will be tensions between the two cultures will arise. These and other scenarios makes this book one that is difficult to put down until the end.Mehl is a talented author and even though this is the first of her books I have read, I know it will not be the last.
