About book Instructing Sarah (2007)

I categorized this as an "Erotic Lit" book, but honestly I don't know if it ever got that far. At 43% there had been no sex, and I'm sure it was coming (pardon the pun), but it took ALL my patience to even get that far. I'm not rating this because I didn't finish it, but at 43% my impression was "1 star." I believe this book was a self-pubbed book and it shows in the editing. "Dept" was used instead of "debt" there were words missing in sentences, and the overuse of names in the overly wooden dialogue was so bad it was nearly funny.I've heard AMAZING things about Anne Rainey's work through publishers, but this novella lacked believable characters, realistic plot, and readable dialogue. I rarely DNF, but I stopped when the virgin heroine was bemoaning her limited knowledge of "The pleasures of the flesh." This story was good but nothing special to me. I really liked Sarah and Greg, but felt like the story didn't flow well. It felt rushed in the beginning and then ended abruptly for me. Blake's character was a confusing component as well. His purpose in initiating the meeting between Sarah and Greg was understandable, but then he kept popping up without really any purpose; it felt sorta stalker-ish but then nothing came of it. In general the story had potential but fell short.

A short and spicy read. The characters were likeable and the story enjoyable.
