I listened to the Audible version.I know nothing about WWI and I love history. Ken Follett is a master story teller for these great sweeping sagas. I found that it helped me to download the list of characters from the internet to help keep track of all the story lines. It is fascinating to watch the main characters from each country develop and paths cross. The stories reach from the very, very poor who work in clothing factories and coal mines to the "lives of the rich and famous" rulers. Well written and well narrated. Una gozada para escuchar. No soy una gran entusiasta de la novela histórica pero ésta me ha encantado. Nos habla de cinco personajes de distintas familias en el contexto de la Primera Guerra Mundial. La documentación histórica está muy cuidada, hay muchos datos reales y los que no lo son, son históricamente verosímiles. El autor logra que te enamores de cada personaje, con sus defectos y virtudes, ya que ninguno de ellos es plano. Bien al contrario, las personalidades resultan creíbles. Muy recomendable. Es una trilogía, así que no creo que tarden en caer las otras dos.
