About book La Révélation De Noël (2006)

This is a small book and it only took me a day really to read it although I started it last night. I ended today around noon. The story is set in the year 1895 in Ireland. Although the story was interesting in itself, it ended leaving many questions unanswered. The main character, who had travelled from England to Ireland to stay with her dying aunt, made several references to her husband and what their marriage really was. Then, the story ended with her still in Ireland so there was no tying up of those loose ends. I guess we'll never know. So, although it wasn't spellbinding, it was a decent read. I give it a three. Emily Radley's Christmas is turned upside down when she is requested by a distant relative, her aunt Susannah to go and stay with her over the festive period as she doesn't have long to live.Emily is reluctant but finds a warm welcome awaits her in the Connemara village where her aunt lives. But the village itself and its inhabitants holds dark secrets that are reawakened when a ship founders at sea and a lone survivor, Daniel is washed up in the bay.Daniel reminds them in every way of a darker time of their past when seven years before a near identical tragedy happened when Connor Riordan was washed ashore and through his enigmatic character forced the villagers to reveal and examine their secret natures which in turn led to tragedy when Connor was murdered for something he had learned from the people of the village. Can Emily find out the mystery and lay the ghosts to rest thereby giving her aunt Susannah peace before her impending death or is the whole sequence of events set to happen again only this time played out with Daniel as the victim?Well written, intriguing and an engaging story that keeps the reader guessing.

I liked the Ireland setting. Well written characters. A little slow.

The story line was okay. I was not a big fan of the writing style.
