Membaca buku ini membuat optimis tentang pendidikan anak-anak dan bahwa tiap anak dapat berkembang menjadi lebih baik. Saat membaca contoh dalam buku ini membuat saya merasa sepertinya hal tersebut terlalu bagus jadi kenyataan dan membuat makin penasaran sebaik apa penerapan teori dalam buku ini.. Selain penasaran, saya merasa menyesal mengapa tidak membaca buku 7 habit of highly effective peoplenya Stephen R. Covey (saya akan segera mencari buku tersebut secepat mungkin ^^) . Pemimpin dalam buku ini bukan lah pemimpin seperti menjadi ketua OSIS/BEM tapi tentang menjadi mandiri dan mampu memimpin diri sendiri. Selain menjelaskan 7 Kebiasaan (Jadilah Proaktif, Mulai dengan Tujuan KAhir, Dahulukan yang Utama, Berpikir Menang-Menang, Berusaha Memahami Dahulu, Kemudian Berusaha Dipahami; Wujudkan Sinergi, dan Mengasah Gergaji (Pencegah Konflik)) , buku ini juga menjelaskan cara menerapkannya. :D Hal yang saya lebih kaget lagi adalah ternyata di Indonesia sudah ada sekolah yang menerapkan prinsip ini.. wow :O Ada dua sekolah yaitu Sekolah PSKD Mandiri Jakarta dan Sekolah An-Nisaa Pondok Aren Jakarta :D Listened to this one on the car ride to Baltimore for the Lehigh/Lafayette telecast party. It's just one CD and it's read by the author. My wife and I had different perspectives but I think it's because I've already drank the Covey Kool-Aid. I actually didn't find the first half that intriguing. He shares the story of a particular magnet school that choose the 7 Habits as their theme. He says that they integrated the habits into their mission and approach but doesn't really go into detail about how this actually played out. Thus, while slightly inspiring, it leaves you with no guidemap for proceeding. The second part, however, was about implementing the 7 Habits at home in your family. This I really enjoyed and got me thinking a lot. It also led to a good discussion about how we see our family developing in the future.
