About book LeaderShift: A Call For Americans To Finally Stand Up And Lead (2013)
I was a little underwhelmed by this book. It was heavily hyped by friends and I consider author Orrin Woodward to be a legitimate genius. Oliver DeMille is considered an expert on our founding fathers and in leadership education.I found the parable to be slow developing and the meat of the book did not appear until Chapter 27. That being said, the authors have laid out a compelling story of how our country has become stalemated and disfunctional. The Five Laws of Decline are well-thought and explained. The proposed changes to how our country conducts its business are thought-provoking and could start a conversation that leads to much needed change.All and all, this book is a must read because of its ideas, not because of its great writing. Please do read it and lets talk! Was it good? yes. Was it great? to many, I suppose. Was it corny? A little (or a lot).The ideas in this book are definitely worth the attention of those who want to be more involved with America's local political system and/or the "turn around" of America. However, I thought it was odd that they, SPOILER ALERT, had America's founding fathers (who are either angel like beings or ghosts) play such a big role. If you are not into that sort of thing, I don't see how these parts in the book can come off any way but corny. Seems as though they would build credibility in other ways than having the founding fathers endorsing their movement. I enjoyed the book and it's ideas, but I can't say that I would recommend it to a friend unless I knew they were a "concerned citizen". Enjoy!
