About book Llama Llama Home With Mama (2011)

Little Llama Llama wakes up to discover he just doesn’t feel right. His throat is sore, he’s sneezing and sniffling, and he has a fever. Mama Llama sends him right back to bed - no school today for Llama Llama. But staying home from school isn’t any fun. The medicine Mama gives him is yucky. He’s too sick to play with his toys. Mama Llama gets a book and reads Llama Llama a story and as she is reading, he falls asleep. The nap makes Llama Llama feel much better and now he is ready to play! There’s only one problem - Mama Llama caught his cold and now she’s sick too. This day is so boring! Wait! Llama Llama knows what to do! He can take care of Mama Llama just the way she took care of him. He brings her tissues, a pillow, a cup, and the best remedy - a stack of books. Llama Llama may be sick and stuck at home from school, but he has his Mama and that’s all he needs to feel better. Llama Llama in his adorable red pajamas is one of the most beloved current picture book characters by children, parents, and teachers alike, and for good reason. The rhyme scheme is spot on and easy to do as a read-aloud. The illustrations are bright, colorful, and align perfectly with the text, providing visual reinforcement to help kids learn the words on the page. But the best part about this and all the other Llama Llama books is the relatable story. Staying home sick from school as a young child IS boring. There is no one to play with, especially if the rest of the family members are sick too. The theme here about the value of taking care of others and the importance of family is likely to be lost on the little ones, who will love this book because it stars Llama Llama and it rhymes. Adults, however, will appreciate the message which says a little laughter, a lot of love, and of course books can cure whatever ails you. Parents will be especially drawn to it as a go-to story for an at-home-sick day, to be placed on the shelf next to all of the other titles in the Llama Llama collection. Mommy's review from 11/26/11 - Anna Dewdney can't lose in my opinion! Julia and I have loved all of the Llama Llama books ever since we first read Llama Llama Red Pajama. These are some of the few children's books that I have no problem paying full price for and keeping. I'd also give them as a gift with no hesitation. If you haven't read a Llama Llama book to your kids do so now!

Nice 'do unto others', even when it's your mama! Nice to see in paperback.

It feels like every second word is either yuck, guck, yucky or gucky.
